Red//Blue "who's online" ?

So, instead of me having to read 17 pages of "who's on first", did anyone ever figure out why we show as different colours at the bottom of the main page? I read the first couple of pages and green was never mentioned. Just blue, and red.
Can someone 'splain this to me? :-\

It took me a bit to find the social zone when the site was new to me. I could hardly believe how much fun it was, and it remains an important part of the Forum.
