I believe the shovel belongs to Tracy. Not about to battle her for that territory! LOL. ;D ;D

Absolutely, I've started a thread for ideas in the Social Zone ....

I'd wager Tracy has some ideas for recipes that include japanese quail, and how to carve them up.. mm mm mmmmmm

Break for Xmas and then Spring will come again and hopefully P&T will come back. There is a good cam down there I can refer but will do so once the pain of this loss has eased for all.

I will be post a link to the FrodoCam in our peregrine cam section Carly, but if there are other ones, please send me a pm and I'll set it up. And I'm going to take a look at the Forum's current design to see if I can improve some of our topic areas - particularly the webcam areas so its easier for you all to post and keep track of your favs.

Or is that there are too few options available for them? I agree with you, it's sad that we had 3 opportunities for breeding lost with 3 moms, even more so as one died :( Given we're not out of the woods yet for having a healthy population, it would have been nice to have a place to call home for all of them. Is there anything we can do to help that situation?

Generally territorial disputes are not between family members, offspring disperse from the natal site at fledging and while some will return, most of the records I have seen of territorial battles/deaths have been between stranger birds. But it has been a while since I looked at the band records in the US Midwest so will take another look to see if that has changed any in the last few years. As to doing something, not much one can do, the peregrines will nest where they want to and mostly recovery projects (like ours) have or will provide nestboxes if birds start to hang around in an area. And there are always territories that are preferred and that has more to do with the building/tower/bridge's location and/or architecture. The Radisson is the tallest building in downtown Winnipeg but it does have ledges for the birds to sit on and that is very (very) important. We have provided a nestbox which has given the birds a second location (the nestledge being the other) to nest.
If you want to help, make sure your local peregrine project (if there is one) has your name if you want to volunteer - and remember that every project will have different volunteer needs and they can vary from year to year, month to month and day to day. If you don't have a peregrine project, there are lots of other species-at-risk projects (unfortunately) and volunteers are always needed. Keep in mind that what helps one species in an area, helps them all. So helping a plant species-at-risk will help the peregrines down the line ...

Hopefully more will come out too! ;D - I know there's more Wpg-ers out there. All the rest of you 'not' Wpg-ers - will definitely be there in spirit! :D
