By my count the chicks are only 9 days old. I'm just wondering how likely it is that they are going to be able to thermoregulate themselves well enough at this point to make sure they don't freeze in all that cold water. I know they have their mother for warmth but I'm sure she's pretty cold up there too!  :(

I'm with you on that...I don't want to go down the path of alarmist..but I'll go ahead and say it....I'm ready for some type of intervention...not sure that's possible though...so we'll just have to hope for a positive outcome...and a load of gravel once this is over....gotta give them some "higher" ground...I keep trying to remind myself that falcons have survived in the wild on cliff ledges in must worse conditions...tho' this one is pretty intense...

I wonder if in the rescue attempt will they move them to the nest box?

oh my god, I just logged onto to the webcam to see Lake Princess. Tracy will the chicks be okay with that much water around them?

I do believe the drain is working...if it weren't, the water would be a lot deeper than it is....hopefully the kids are on a mound of gravel..and keeping their heads above water...I'm sure Princess is really keeping their upper body warm.  Gosh...I wish the rain would stop, at least for a while, to give them a break and to give the water a chance to drain...Again...I'm sure Tracy is watching the situation..

Well...the rain's still coming...but at least it doesn't look like its getting any deeper...I'm ready to come up there with my pail and start bailing!!!
I'm with you skygirl! Let's grab our buckets and galoshes and bail out our babies!
Sigh, if only! I can't tell if the water level is changing or not. Seems like its gotten even higher since I last checked. I wonder where Trey is? Hopefully somewhere a little dryer!

If it rains much more, I'm afraid that Princess and Trey won't be able to keep the chicks from drowning. It doesn't look like that ledge has any drainage at all. It looks like a bathtub in there.   :'(

Watch the bubbles near the drain.  A bubble forms when rain hits the water.  The bubbles immediately head for the drain.  The drain is working, just not the way we all wish it worked.

Thanks for that perspective, skypilot...and glad to know you've been to that site...now if the rain could back off some and give the drain a chance to do its job...it does look like its slowing down some (or is that wishful thinking)...talons crossed...

Take a look at
http://www.panoramio.com/photos/original/558983.jpg
from the new topic Raddison nest site.  I'm guessing they are on the roof of that little projection with a window on the north and east side of the building.

I was in that window taking pictures last summer, and there were no water leaks on the ceiling.  On top of that, I watched the falcon feather circling the drain for a while.  The drain is working.  All this is cold comfort (pun noticed but unavoidable) but I am less worried about the chicks drowning.

From the posts on the new topic Radisson Nest Site, the flickers of motion in my upper right corner of my picture are pedestrians.

Also I would guess the parents chose this side because most storms come from the west, and they wanted to get out of the weather this year.  I have this hunch next year Princess will definitely be in the box.  That huddle of feathers in the corner doesn't look like a happy camper.

I wish I were guessing and hoping less and knowing more.  Hey, why be a Piker?  I wish it was sunny, at least until the chicks can self thermo regulate.

I hope they are dealing with it better than I am...you're right, we don't know what's going on under Princess...I do hope they are on a mound of gravel and only their little feet are getting wet...but I am concerned...I hope they are able to keep their little heads above water...what is the temp there?

In the upper right hand corner of my picture, above the ledge, I keep seeing motion flickers - in the past usually it meant a shift change or at least food.  Can anyone see what it is?

I think that what you can see in the upper right corner is the road next to the building. Maybe you are seeing cars go by?

I can't believe how fast the ledge has filled up with water. I wonder how much water the chicks are sitting in right now. Poor Princess is soaked right through. It is really hard to see but wild animals deal with this kind of thing all the time, we just never get to see it up close like this. All we can do is hope the rain stops soon and keep our fingers crossed that the little ones will be alright.

...i'm getting a little concerned here...

I'm getting a lot concerned here....we've gone from puddles to a small pond...I'm sure Tracy and crew are monitoring the situation...but that scrape is really filling up with water...
