Radisson - 2008 / Trey & Princess
ballywing:
No need to say anything else Dwanny, that was really well written. I'm just wandering around in a daze feeling sick :'( :'( - I wonder if it's too late for the incredible dedicated Princess & Trey to try again this year? (Access to that nest location needs to be blocked off ..) Although this ended tragically, maybe there's a chance for them to start again. That's one ray of hope I'm keeping. Tracy might be able to fill us in on that stuff when she's able. :'(
CeeBee:
I am so impressed with the attempted rescue. I hope they know how much we all love them for trying. I hope Tracy can keep us up to date on news about Princess and Trey.
Dwanny:
As I write this I am sobbing, and am utterly heartbroken. I can not explain how emotionally wrecked I am at this point in time. My heart soared with Princess and Trey when the hatchlings were born, and I became so emotionally invested in this whole process. To see this wonder of nature, this phenomenal parenting process, such incredible nurturing from these wild creatures end so tragically has left me so incredibly sad and distraught! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
I think that we are truly blessed to live in such an amazing Province and City where people like Tracy and WFPS care enough to attempt the rescue this morning, no matter the outcome. Their actions and compassion and caring restores my faith in Mankind! :) I am sure that many hoops were jumped through to acheive that rescue this morning and everyone involved are true heros!!
Tracy, CBC, SHAW thank you all for making it possible for us worldwide to have the opportunity to view nature at its most joyful and most tragic.
The one thing I will come away from this with, is a much better understanding and caring about our Bird wildlife and all of those who are endangered and in need of protection and conservation. Not sure what else to say, I just need to grieve for a while :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Please try to remember that Princess, Trey and their offspring are WILD birds. They choose their nesting spots. We can offer up the best prepared spots, but it doesn't mean that their choice is the one that we think is perfect. Trying to predict where a wild bird is going to nest is a crap shoot. Princess and Trey could have chosen anywhere, not necessarily the Radisson.
Also, perigrine falcons are a protected species, it is illegal to kill one or to disturb their nests. Tracy and company have to get licenses etc. at banding time and I'm sure, even though this was an "emergency" a lot of hoops still had to be jumped through before they could arrange a rescue.
My sympathies to all who feel loss in this situation and my thanks to Tracy and company for all they have done for the birds and for us.
Please don't shut this site down. There is a lot of information and links to other peregrine nests.
Thank you,
Pat

This is my first blog. Just wanted to say thank you to Tracy and all the team for the great job you do. Despite heroic efforts, nature had the last word. Death is a part of life that we have trouble accepting. All those lovely birds that helped feed this family were also part of that chain. It is life in the raw. I hope everyone learns to live life to the fullest while we have it within our grasp. Good luck to the team and to Princess and Trey.
