Okay, as of 1421 hrs (local time) severe thunderstorm watch just got upgraded to tornado watch for an area extending from the south east corner of the province to a line running south from the western shore of Lake Manitoba to the US Border. Although it doesn't technically include Winnipeg, seems to cover everyone east, south and west of us. And let me tell you, the clouds are scudding by my south-facing office window at warp 4.
From Environment Canada: At least 5 funnel clouds have been reported in southern Manitoba this afternoon...Generally south of Winnipeg, near the communities of Niverville...Iles des chenes...Aubigney...And Kane. None of the funnels have touched the ground as of 2 PM this afternoon...However further funnel clouds are possible south of Winnipeg and in the extreme southeast corner of the province for the remainder of the afternoon. Although most of these types of funnels do not touch the ground, the possibility of a brief tornado does exist. The occurrence of these funnel clouds should end early this evening.
