Just a thought but maybe it's because plastic is not naturally occuring in the world of nature - just as glass windows aren't when the poor chicks slam into them - perhaps she's curious as to what 'plastic' is? Maybe by biting on it she's being tactile and trying to figure out what the heck is this stuff? It's also see through which must be a novelty to her. Just trying to think like a bird :P
