Radisson - 2009 / Trey & Princess

<< < (1610/1988) > >>

The Peregrine Chick:
1445 hrs (local) - another mm and Princess' tail would actually be in the bin rather than on the bin.  Now that the chicks are a bit stronger, they move and get moved a bit with each feeding so more of a chance for Princess to get tucked down in the box like Trey does.

It occurs to me that Princess doesn't usually incubate/brood this much in a year.  I think she just might be more dominant at the nest/chicks than usual because of last year.  Its technically just a supposition, but though she can be bossy, she generally shares better with Trey than this.  Its not a concern, some females are like this, just interesting to see her be like this.

maggieblue:
Shift change again as Princess just returned with a small meal and is feeding the chicks.  This time the three little faces are all visible, beaks reaching up and mom gently placing the food in each one.  ;D  Another oops as the one up front took a tumble but is back up and being fed.

maggieblue:
Trey was just doing his housekeeping thing, tail in the air, chicks all exposed out the back  ;D  Oops, guess he realized that, turned around and shuggled down on them.  Now more housekeeping, gravel chewing.  He is certainly much more active than Princess when he is in the nestbox.  He seems to be in constant motion.

maggieblue:
Princess made a quick exit from the nestbox allowing us to see the chick pile.  And now here comes Trey.

maggieblue:
This time it doesn't appear that Princess is going to take a break.  She is right back down on the chicks. I wonder if the wind has something to do with that. Trey is certainly a great provider.
