pmg:
Well, we followed her every day and were happy when she fledged. It would be great to have news of how she is doing now. She was well named TPC and is well loved, even now by those of us who watched her grow.

The Peregrine Chick:
Sorry for leaving the cam on the "zoomed in" shot for longer than planned, got called away and forgot to pull back ...  :-[

The Peregrine Chick:

--- Quote from: pmg on June 19, 2009, 18:02 ---two years ago the smallest chick was a female. She hatched a day or two after the others. Eventually she caught up with her older sibs, and grew to be bigger than her brothers.
--- End quote ---

In Mistral's case, only barely and only to us who know how small she was right from the start.  Anyone else looking at the little troup wouldn't know the difference I'm afraid  :D  Smallest female we have every had, hope she turns up somewhere, love to see what she can do ...

The Peregrine Chick:

--- Quote from: Moonstar on June 19, 2009, 17:31 ---One of these two seems much bigger than the other one.  Is the bigger one the female, or is it still too early to go by size to figure out which is male/female?

--- End quote ---

Nope, largest chick is the female.  The other way to tell them apart at this point, and it will only become more noticeable is the ratio of fluff to flight feathers.  Already the males have more of their flight feathers visible.  And the female will probably be less active.  She's still got a lot of growing and so she'll sleep more, more energy for developing if you save energy by napping.  But don't get freaked, personalities are coming out now and some will be quieter than others, that doesn't mean anything is wrong, just natural range of variation among siblings ...

--- Quote from: Kinderchick on June 19, 2009, 21:46 ---Hey there, bccs, quite the day you had yesterday! Thanks for all the commentary about your day with Dennis on the roof! Were you the one wearing a RED t-shirt?!  ;) If so, I saw you!!! So much for all of our anonymity!  8) BOT - just look at those 3 little chickies, faceplant in the gravel! Whoa, camera person, hold still a moment, please. There, now that's a nice close-up!

--- End quote ---
yup, that was me in the red. You had the advantage of going public, not so for me. All in good fun though, and if it made people smile, what the heck
