Well, he/she is relaxed enough to enjoy a meal -- and to "smile for the camera" even. Great shots, TPC! Thanks for sharing them.

Here are some spycam screen captures of our unidentified visitor over the last few days ... (and yes, s/he has their latest meal spread out at their feet - if you are sensitive to that kind of thing, fair warning)

Could thsi mean a turff war next spring???

Probably not, this young bird is probably going to take at least another year before breeding and Princess and Trey are pretty dominant individuals.  And that all pre-supposes that this bird would come back ... so far I'm not sure they will have been very impressed with Winnipeg - cold and snowy!!

Tracy, do you think this is the same female as we saw last week? I took a couple of pictures this morning, will post later.

TPC, this is really interesting. I had just assumed that any peregrine spotted at the Radisson would be one of ours -- which, of course, I DO know is not necessarily the case (those wings make them really mobile). If it's one of the US birds, it's definitely heading in the wrong direction (Friday's snow might have been the first clue)!

Keep in mind that the "chicks" have been flying around on their own for the last couple of months and marshes are always good places for the birds to hangout - think Food Court at your local mall.  Also, with migration in full swing, waterfowl (a peregrine's favourite meal) are staging all around and in the City.  It also demonstrates why the Radisson has been so successful a nesting location, even "foreign" peregrines recognize how wonderful a roosting location it is.

1115 hrs (local)

Caught another glimpse of the chick's left leg and there is green on the band - can't tell whether it is green tape and therefore likely its Luck from Brandon or if its a black/green band and probably from the US - Grand Forks (one of T2's kids) or elsewhere ... more news as I get it ...

1030 hrs (local)

Had a quick glimpse of the chick's left foot and I don't think its Vesper ... could be one of the Brandon chicks or perhaps even a chick from the US ... more news later ...
