Allen's Hummingbirds - California / Phoebe
susha:
I see the little one moving, but it doesn't look right :(
jadoo:
...just got back from phoebe-cam, she (again) tried to get chick #2 to eat - no response that i could see - i didn't see any movement at all from #2... :-\
susha:
I sure hope not! We'll know soon though, since changes happen very quickly with Phoebe's babies as we know! Baby #1 also wasn't interested in eating the last time Phoebe offered, so hoo nose?!? ???
At least the #2 is now sitting alongside #1 like the other chicks have been. Of course, now you can really see the difference in size :(
Kinderchick:
I know this goes without saying but I guess chick #2 has to lift it's head and open it's beak for a feeding. Maybe it hurt it's neck when it fell out of the nest? :-\
susha:
Seems that Phoebe has tried unsuccessfully to feed #2, but he/she still seems strong, although smaller than #1. That would be the case anyway, in spite of the trauma because of the later hatch...
As you say, KC, time will tell! There are lots of folks cheering the little one on! :-* :-*
