A little after 10:00 on Canada Day - boys on the edge of nestbox, looking like pros :o :o and girls looking very interested in getting up there - oops, one of the boys just hopped down. Looks like his sister is yacking at him...the girls seem so much bigger than the boys. Difficult to tell from this angle. Doesn't matter! I love them all! :-*
TPC just posted info to tell them apart - now the other boy has jumped off and all four are in the nestbox. :-* :-* :-* :-* Someone just jumped up again. These guys are not relaxing one little bit - they're determined to grow and get going. Second boy back on the edge... 8) 8)
The Peregrine Chick:
Only the boys have ventured onto the box edge so far and none have tried to jump down on the narrow building ledge that runs to the left from the nestbox along the side of the building. Yellow male has the least fluff, white male is the smallest, green female is the smaller of the two females and red female is the larger and the chick with the most fluff. And yes, the tape is still on everyone's leg bands and will definitely make it much easier to id the birds when they do start flying - well, as long as they show us their feet!
