Radisson finally got a break after 7 this morning and is still away but the male is there  now. He has been coming and staying and standing in front of egg, and probably turning it. We cannot tell everything because of the LONG refresh :P
will post show later today.

Well, I missed it again.  Five minutes after I leave work, after watching her almost constantly for half an hour, she lays her egg.  I guess I am not meant to see egg-laying.  Good for you, Radisson and Damon.

Radisson won't begin incubating until the penultimate egg is laid (second to last) until then, unless there is a risk of freezing, she may hang out with egg one, but probably won't "incubate".  Shelter maybe, protect from freezing for sure.

If I remember correctly the male at this site was very attentive as far as food delivery was concerned and being by the nest box when called for by Radisson last year. She always was so proud for him to come in and view the eggs and he was likewise.  8)

Has she left the nest since the egg was laid?
Would the male bring her a meal if the weather is so cold she needs to keep the egg warm?

the male is either across at the college plaza right now , or adjacent to her on Heart building.
trying to figure out what the white is on her beak,
I think she is tellling the male to get over here

It is wet and cold here. the high today was 7C but to go to 0 C tonight or cooler.
We may be getting snow also. There are winter storm warnings south of us :o :o :o

so she needs to keep it warm but not too warm

I am so glad you got to see an egg being laid bc bird

I've never before seen an egg laid, and am happy for Radisson and also for myself!
How long would she be expected to stay with the egg now laid?  She seems to be very settled on it this past hour or so.

I think it really depends on weather and site layout.  If it's still chilly at night, she will lay on it and keep it warm until daylight and the temps are warmer.  They are very protective of their eggs so they won't go too far away now, save for more 'baby making' to make more eggs but the nestbox will always be in sight by one of them once an egg comes.
