Its been much cooler and wet the last couple of days so Ella and Pip have been velcroed to the eggs. Not unexpected given how close the eggs are to hatching. In this video, Pip leaves and Ella comes in to take over, but something catches her attention and she’s back out the front of the box and she follows him around the side of the Hotel. Less than a minute later she is back. Couldn’t see anything else flying by on one of our other camera angles and she didn’t seem particularly alarmed when she returned, so no idea what they both took off after.
Taking a closer look at the eggs there don’t appear to be any pips (the holes the chicks make as they start to hatch) and Ella and Pip seem to both be incubating equally, so it doesn’t seem like hatching will be in the next few hours. Will be interesting to see what tomorrow morning brings.
